Following our class elections, here are our Pupil Reps Committee:
Harriet (Chair) Olly, Harry, Katie and Flissy
Our brand new Leading Lights committee had their first meeting this week. We discussed the role of the Leading Light and talked about some of the activities they would like to do as part of their role during the year. This includes: deciding fundraising events and causes, after school clubs, our school curriculum and pupil views, making community links and projects, keeping safe and any other local, community or global issues our Leading Lights may want to engage with! During our first meeting, we talked about Dojo prizes for the child in each class that receives the highest number of Dojos per half term. The Leading Lights agreed that they would really like it if the winner could choose an afternoon treat for their class. They thought the winner deserved to choose the treat, but this means that the whole class will enjoy it too – reflecting our school vision of course! (‘Think for Yourself and Act for Others…). The Leading Lights felt that the Dojo winner could also receive a badge and certificate in recognition of their achievement! It was a great first meeting and the Leading Lights are going to make a fantastic contribution to Ruswarp.
Harvest Festival
Our Leading Lights did a fantastic job of leading our Harvest Festival in front of our whole school family and friends. We all enjoyed an afternoon of poetry, singing and finding out about bread - from field to flour and eventually a bread loaf. A generous donation of food was given to the Whitby Food Bank.
